Dear Parent/Carer,
Your child has been invited to attend Northumbria University on Monday 18th July 2022. We will also have the opportunity for some free time afterwards in Newcastle City Centre.
We will leave the Workington Academy campus at 7.45 am. We will arrive back at Workington Academy at approximately 19.00 pm. We will be travelling with Sims Travel. There will a qualified first aider on the journey and there are first-aid facilities at Northumbria University. Both coaches will be appropriately staffed.
Students will have the opportunity to gain information on choosing a course, choosing a university, advanced study skills and also a talk on student life along with a Campus Tour. This event will allow students to make informed choices for their future post 18, based on the information and experiences available.
Transport will be provided and we are asking for a contribution towards costs of £5.00 per person, this should be paid via Parent Pay where possible. After attending the visit to Northumbria University, we will have some free time in Newcastle where students will be able to get a feel for the city centre and be able to purchase their tea before we return home.
We have also been invited to take students to Workington Fire station on Tuesday 19th July at 10.00am. Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service will give a demonstration and talk focusing on road safety. Students will meet us there; however, we will be walking up and back from Workington Academy and are very welcome to walk with us.
We have already received your consent to take your child on off-site trips, together with medical and emergency contact details etc. However, if any of these have changed would you please complete the relevant sections on the slip below.
Please complete and return the reply slip (if any amendments) to reception by Friday 1st July 2022.
Yours faithfully
Mrs T M Wilson
