Dear WCSF student and parent/carer,

It is with great sadness that we have concluded that we are unable to continue with our transition programme as planned due to a growing number of Covid-19 cases across the county, moving towards a virtual delivery model.

On Monday 28th June, the week will begin with a virtual assembly for all Year 12 students where important information will be shared regarding the week ahead. We will invite students to join Teams lessons throughout the week, following the same timetable as week 1, whilst they study from home.

Students have been added to the WCSF Transition Team on Microsoft Teams so that they can access the lessons and accompanying resources. The team is arranged into channels, one for each subject. Students will be able to access work for their specific subjects through these channels. We will also place all bridging work in this area and a wider reading resource hub. This resource bank will contain a range of materials for students to access, it will have announcements, subject resources, next steps resources and support and guidance for students on contemporary issues.

Unfortunately, we have also had to take the decision to cancel the Team Building day planned for Friday 2nd July at Eskdale, although we hope to be able to reschedule this for a later date. There no expectations for you to attend any lessons on this day.

Likewise, regrettably the National Citizenship Service which was scheduled for the last 2 weeks of the term has also been cancelled.

We appreciate all of the effort you have put into your transition lessons during week 1 and we look forward to working with you, although in a slightly different way, during the final week.

Should you have any concerns or issues with accessing lessons in any way during the final week, please contact me so that I can explore ways to support.

At this time, I urge you all to follow local guidance and book a PCR covid test, whilst also continuing with regular LFT testing. Please stay safe and adhere to all health advice, including wearing masks and maintaining social distancing.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs Andrea McAllister
