Dear student
As part of our ongoing induction process I am happy to announce that we will be delivering online lessons during the week beginning 6 July. Lessons will be delivered via Microsoft Teams (with the exception of German), which can be downloaded as an app on Google Play store or Apple App Store. You do not need to have a Microsoft office account linked to the email address in order to access these lessons. Alternatively, Teams can be accessed via a laptop or desktop computer.
All students will be required to attend the welcome assembly on Monday, 6 July at 9.30am. This will talk through expectations and provide updates on uniform availability.
It is easy to log in to Teams as a guest. You will be sent an invitation via email to each of your lessons, if you have an outlook based email address, these invitations will also appear on your calendar. From your calendar you will see an option to join the Teams meeting at the top. By double clicking on this, it will take you to the Teams app/online platform and allow you to join.
If you are using the app on a laptop or desktop, you will find that the buttons are on the left hand side. From here you can select calendar, then double click on the meeting you are set to join in order to be taken to the video/audio room.
For safeguarding reasons, students will not be alone on a one to one basis with a member of staff, and all lessons will be recorded. These images may be used for promotional purposes.
You should now have been able to begin the bridging work via our VLE, Firefly and had some feedback from your teachers. These virtual lessons will allow you to meet your teachers, classmates and extend any learning you have already completed. Do not panic if you have not completed all the work as yet, teaching staff will be able to direct you to the key pieces that you will need to ensure that you have completed for the beginning of the new school year.
You will note that our Children’s Play, Learning and Development course alongside our Health and Social Care course are delivering two sessions, these are different lessons and attendance will be expected at both, if you are studying either the single or double option.
If you have any further questions regarding the virtual lessons or bridging work please do not hesitate to contact office@westcoastsixthform.org .
Yours sincerely
Mrs A McAllister
